Cloud & DevOps Services We Offer in Canberra
The Canberra cloud market expects PROTECTED-grade engineering. The Department of Defence migrated significant workloads onto Azure Australia Central under IRAP PROTECTED. Services Australia, the ATO, and Home Affairs all run hybrid estates with Azure Australia Central, AWS ap-southeast-2, and on-premises Canberra Data Centres facilities. The Hosting Certification Framework defines Certified Strategic and Certified Assured providers, and federal entities cannot host PROTECTED systems outside that framework. Our cloud and DevOps services mirror that standard. We design IRAP-ready landing zones on Azure Australia Central (the local default for PROTECTED workloads), AWS ap-southeast-2 with Top Secret and Secret region options for cleared programmes, and Google Cloud australia-southeast1 when the client has accepted residency in Sydney. We build platform engineering practices with golden paths, GitOps on Argo CD or Flux, policy as code with Open Policy Agent, and Essential Eight Maturity Level 2 or 3 controls baked into the pipeline. Every engagement includes an ISM control map, a PSPF alignment statement, an Essential Eight maturity assessment, and an IRAP evidence pack scoped to the client’s assessor engagement.
Our Cloud & DevOps Development Process
We run discovery, design, build, and deployment on AEDT hours so Canberra department CIOs, programme directors, and IRAP assessors get synchronous standups, not overnight handoffs. Discovery opens with a workload classification review against the PSPF (UNOFFICIAL, OFFICIAL, OFFICIAL Sensitive, PROTECTED, and above), an ISM control gap analysis, a Hosting Certification Framework provider review, and an AGSVA clearance plan for the delivery team where the workload demands cleared personnel. Build sprints are two weeks, reviewed against an architecture decision record set aligned with the Digital Service Standard, the Cloud Strategy, and the Hosting Strategy. Deployment uses blue-green and canary patterns inside Azure Australia Central availability zones or AWS ap-southeast-2, with disaster recovery to the second region or the second Canberra Data Centres facility for in-territory workloads. Rollback plans, change records, and incident playbooks are written so an Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) review can follow the trail without a second vendor engagement.
Infrastructure Assessment
1-2 WeeksWe audit your current infrastructure, identify bottlenecks, evaluate cloud readiness, and design a target architecture with cost projections.
Architecture Design
1-2 WeeksDesign the cloud architecture following AWS Well-Architected Framework principles with networking, security, and high-availability configurations.
Implementation & Migration
4-8 WeeksProvision infrastructure with IaC, set up CI/CD pipelines, containerize applications, and execute the migration with rollback strategies.
Testing & Validation
1-2 WeeksLoad testing, failover testing, security scanning, and performance benchmarking to validate the new infrastructure meets all requirements.
Monitoring & Handoff
1 WeekSet up comprehensive monitoring with alerting, create runbooks for common operations, and train your team on managing the new infrastructure.
Technologies We Use for Cloud & DevOps
Canberra cloud workloads almost always need Australian data residency, and federal workloads frequently need PROTECTED-rated infrastructure inside the ACT. We default to Azure Australia Central 1 and Australia Central 2 (Canberra, Microsoft and Canberra Data Centres partnership, both IRAP PROTECTED, both physically located inside the territory), AWS ap-southeast-2 in Sydney for OFFICIAL and OFFICIAL Sensitive workloads, AWS dedicated Top Secret and Secret regions for cleared programmes, and Google Cloud australia-southeast1 in Sydney when the client has accepted Sydney residency. Compute defaults to Azure VMs, AKS, App Service, and Functions on Australia Central, or EC2, EKS, ECS, and Lambda on ap-southeast-2. Data sits on Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Synapse, AWS RDS, Aurora, and Redshift. Identity uses Microsoft Entra ID Australia Central with Conditional Access aligned to Essential Eight, and federation with myID where citizen-facing services are in scope. Observability uses Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Microsoft Sentinel, AWS CloudWatch, and Splunk Cloud Australian regions. CI and CD run on Azure DevOps, GitHub Enterprise Cloud Australia, and GitLab self-managed on Australia Central, with pipelines that enforce policy as code, signed artefacts, and SBOM generation. Pricing defaults to AUD with GST handled at invoice.
