Rapida · Delivery Service Platform
A high-performance delivery platform with real-time tracking and immersive 3D visualizations.
Enterprise software here is usually replacement work rather than greenfield, and the honest framing matters more than the feature list. We do four things. We modernise long-lived systems using a strangler pattern, standing a new service alongside the incumbent, routing a slice of traffic to it, and retiring the old path only when the new one has carried real volume through a real month-end, which is the opposite of the rewrite-and-switch approach that produced the region's most expensive public IT failure. We build integration layers over systems that are not going anywhere, including mainframe and file-based interfaces, with an event backbone so downstream teams stop writing point-to-point connectors. We build new line-of-business systems where none of the packaged options fit, which in a capital city usually means a statutory case-management workflow, a benefits or claims adjudication path, or a regulated internal control system. And we build the platform underneath all of it: identity, authorisation, audit, observability, and a deployment pipeline your own team can operate. Every engagement carries a Law 25 privacy impact assessment, a bilingual design covering data model and interface, an accessibility conformance plan and a documented residency decision.
We work Eastern Time, and the practical effect is that a question raised on a Tuesday afternoon in Quebec City usually has code against it by Wednesday morning: Edmonton takes the working day, Chandigarh takes the overnight window. Discovery is deliberately unglamorous: we read the existing system, map the real data flows rather than the documented ones, count transaction volumes and peak concurrency, and identify every consumer that will break if a field changes. We produce a written risk register naming the three things most likely to sink the programme, because a delivery plan that has not named its own failure modes is not a plan. Design covers architecture, the bilingual content and data model, the authorisation model, the audit surface and the accessibility approach, and it is reviewed with security and privacy in the room rather than circulated afterward. Build runs in two-week sprints behind feature flags, with automated tests, French-Canadian and English acceptance criteria on every user-facing story, and load testing against measured production volumes. Release is incremental: canary traffic, measured error budgets, and a rollback that is exercised in a rehearsal rather than described in a document. Handover includes runbooks, an on-call model and knowledge transfer to your staff.
We assess the current landscape — systems, integrations, data ownership, security posture and the constraints nobody wrote down — then define target architecture and a delivery sequence tied to business outcomes.
Domain modelling, API contracts, identity and permission design, data classification and non-functional requirements agreed with your security and infrastructure stakeholders before code is written.
Cross-functional squads deliver in two-week sprints with CI/CD, automated testing and environment parity. Every sprint produces something demonstrable in an environment your stakeholders can log into.
End-to-end integration testing, penetration testing, load and failover testing, accessibility review and structured UAT with business process owners.
Phased rollout by business unit or region with a rehearsed runbook, then managed support against agreed SLAs, on-call rotation and a funded enhancement backlog.
Stack choice follows what your team can maintain after we leave. Java with Spring Boot and .NET on ASP.NET Core dominate the Quebec City enterprise and public-sector base and both are fine defaults; Kotlin, Go and Node appear where teams already run them. PostgreSQL is the default relational store, with SQL Server common in Microsoft shops and Db2 or VSAM still holding data behind mainframe interfaces. Kafka carries the event backbone; Azure Service Bus or Amazon SQS and EventBridge where the cloud is already chosen. Kubernetes on AKS, EKS or GKE for services with real scale, and managed container services when the operating burden matters more than the flexibility. Identity runs on Entra ID, Keycloak or Auth0 internally, with Quebec government-facing services integrating clicSÉQUR for citizen and business authentication. Front ends are React or Next.js with Angular where an existing team is invested, built to WCAG 2.1 AA and bilingual from the routing layer down. Hosting is AWS ca-central-1 in Montreal, ca-west-1 in Calgary, Azure Canada Central in Toronto and Canada East in Quebec City, or Google Cloud northamerica-northeast1 in Montreal and northamerica-northeast2 in Toronto. Observability runs on OpenTelemetry into Datadog, Grafana or Azure Monitor with logs pinned to Canadian regions.
