ERP work in Quebec City splits into three jobs that get conflated at the proposal stage and separated painfully later. The first is fitting a package to a business: SAP S/4HANA, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management, Odoo or NetSuite, configured honestly, with a written list of every gap that will need extension and every process the business will change rather than customise. The second is building what the package genuinely does not do, which in this region usually means shipyard and project manufacturing progress billing, forestry and food traceability from lot to shipment, cooperative patronage accounting, or a Quebec tax and document layer that the vendor localisation covers only partially. The third is integration, which is where budgets actually go: EDI with customers and carriers, warehouse and shop-floor devices, banking and payment files, payroll, CRM, and the legacy systems that will keep running for years. We take all three, and we take them in that order. Every engagement includes a Quebec tax conformity plan, a bilingual document and interface plan, a data migration and reconciliation strategy, and a cutover plan with a rollback that has been tested rather than described.
We work Eastern Time, with Edmonton on the earlier shift so your morning standup is not our afternoon, and Chandigarh running the overnight build and load window, which matters more on ERP than elsewhere because trial migrations are long jobs that are best started when nobody is using the source system. Discovery is a process and data inventory rather than a demo tour: current transaction volumes, item and BOM counts, chart of accounts complexity, entity and tax registration structure, the real state of master data, and every integration that touches the general ledger. We run a Law 25 privacy impact assessment over the HR, payroll and supplier modules, because employee and contact records inside an ERP are personal information and are usually the part nobody scoped. Design produces a fit-gap register with a decision and an owner on every line, a Quebec tax matrix covering GST, QST and interprovincial place-of-supply rules, and a French-Canadian document and interface plan. Build runs in two-week sprints with conference-room pilots against real extracted data rather than vendor demo data. Migration is iterative and reconciled: repeated trial loads, balance-to-balance reconciliation against the legacy trial balance, and a signed variance report before anyone discusses a go-live date. Cutover is phased by site, entity or module, with parallel running through at least one full period close and a rollback path that stays live until finance signs off.
We walk the floor and the finance close with your team to document current-state processes, master data quality, integration points and the reporting that decisions actually depend on.
We produce the target-state blueprint: module scope, data model, chart of accounts alignment, permission structure, integration architecture and the platform recommendation with costs.
Module-by-module build and configuration in agile sprints, with a conference-room pilot at the end of each phase so process owners validate against real transactions.
Master and transactional data migration with reconciliation reports, plus integration testing, load testing and a parallel run against your existing system where the risk warrants it.
Phased or big-bang cutover with a rehearsed runbook, role-based training for every department, and an on-site or on-call hypercare period through your first month-end close.
Package choice tracks size and complexity. SAP S/4HANA suits multi-entity manufacturers and shipyard-scale project accounting, usually on RISE or on Azure with Canadian residency. Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management suits mid-market operators already inside Microsoft 365 and Entra ID and gives the cleanest path to Power BI and Power Platform extension. Odoo has real traction in Quebec small and mid-market because its French support and localisation are mature and its licensing does not punish seat growth. NetSuite appears in distribution and services. Extensions are built in ABAP and RAP on SAP, X++ and .NET on Dynamics, and Python on Odoo, with integration on Azure Integration Services, MuleSoft, Kafka or plain REST and SFTP depending on what your operations team can actually support at 03:00. Tax runs on the package engine plus Avalara or Vertex when volumes justify it, always with a Quebec-specific test suite. Hosting is AWS ca-central-1 in Montreal, AWS ca-west-1 in Calgary, Azure Canada Central in Toronto with Canada East in Quebec City, or GCP northamerica-northeast1 in Montreal. Reporting lands in Power BI, Fabric or a Postgres and dbt warehouse rather than in the ERP itself.
