Cloud & DevOps Services We Offer in Zurich
Zurich cloud and DevOps demand splits across three profiles. Swiss private banks: UBS, Julius Baer, Pictet, EFG, Vontobel, J. Safra Sarasin, Banque Lombard Odier (Geneva but Zurich-adjacent) demand FINMA Circular 18/3 outsourcing documentation, sovereign data residency on Swiss soil (Azure Switzerland North, AWS eu-central-2, Swisscom Sovereign Cloud), and §47 BankG banking-secrecy controls including ePAA (electronic Privileged Access Audit) and four-eyes change control. Insurers and reinsurance: Swiss Re, Zurich Insurance, Helvetia, Mobiliar, and Bâloise (Basel HQ) under FINMA Circular 18/3 plus the new Operational Risks and Resilience circular 2023/1 from January 2024 — we deliver actuarial-workload cloud migrations, claims-platform modernisation, and Solvency II SST (Swiss Solvency Test) reporting pipelines. Tech, manufacturing, and engineering: Google Zurich, Disney Research, Meta, Oracle Labs, ABB, Sulzer, and Sika run engineering-led cloud workloads where the DevOps maturity bar is closer to Silicon Valley than to most European banks.
Our Cloud & DevOps Development Process
Discovery opens with a FINMA Circular 18/3 outsourcing assessment (criticality classification, concentration risk, exit strategy, sub-outsourcing chain) plus a FINMA Circular 23/1 operational resilience gap analysis, run jointly with your CIO, CISO, Auslagerungsbeauftragter, and Operationelle-Risiken-Verantwortlicher. We classify whether the workload supports a critical function under the new resilience circular, draft the FINMA outsourcing register entry, and align tolerance for disruption (TfD) thresholds with the resilience circular’s expectations. Build sprints are two weeks on CET with daily standups in German, French, or English. Every cloud migration ships with a FINMA-aligned outsourcing pack, an ISAE 3402 Type II control plan for the operations phase, and a Swiss-counsel-reviewed sub-outsourcing chain disclosure. Cutover includes a documented exit plan with escrow of configuration where contractually required, and tabletop exercises walking the Geschäftsleitung through a cloud-region failure scenario.
Infrastructure Assessment
1-2 WeeksWe audit your current infrastructure, identify bottlenecks, evaluate cloud readiness, and design a target architecture with cost projections.
Architecture Design
1-2 WeeksDesign the cloud architecture following AWS Well-Architected Framework principles with networking, security, and high-availability configurations.
Implementation & Migration
4-8 WeeksProvision infrastructure with IaC, set up CI/CD pipelines, containerize applications, and execute the migration with rollback strategies.
Testing & Validation
1-2 WeeksLoad testing, failover testing, security scanning, and performance benchmarking to validate the new infrastructure meets all requirements.
Monitoring & Handoff
1 WeekSet up comprehensive monitoring with alerting, create runbooks for common operations, and train your team on managing the new infrastructure.
Technologies We Use for Cloud & DevOps
Zurich cloud stacks default to Swiss-soil residency unless an explicit risk-and-control assessment authorises EU regions. Primary providers: AWS eu-central-2 (Zurich, opened November 2022 with three Availability Zones), Microsoft Azure Switzerland North (Zurich) and Switzerland West (Geneva) for cross-region DR, GCP europe-west6 (Zurich, opened 2019), Oracle Cloud Zurich, and for the highest sovereignty workloads Swisscom Sovereign Cloud (operated by Swisscom AG entirely on Swiss soil with Swiss-only personnel access). For cross-border resilience we add eu-central-1 (Frankfurt) and europe-west12 (Turin) where FINMA outsourcing-risk assessments approve. Container orchestration is EKS, AKS, or GKE on the chosen Swiss region, with ArgoCD for GitOps. Observability is Datadog (US but EU residency configured) or Dynatrace (Linz-headquartered, popular in DACH banks), with Grafana Cloud or self-hosted Prometheus + Grafana for sovereignty-sensitive workloads. Secrets management is HashiCorp Vault, AWS KMS with Swiss-region keys, Azure Key Vault Switzerland North, or Thales nShield HSMs for FINMA-critical workloads.
