From budget research to a project scope

The ranges above tell you whether a project is realistic. To turn one into a quote you can act on, bring these four things to the first call:

  • Must-have workflows — the few things users must be able to do at launch, separated from nice-to-haves.
  • Integrations — payments, CRM, ERP, identity or data sources the product has to connect to.
  • Target platforms — iOS, Android, web, desktop or internal tools, and which come first.
  • Launch constraints — deadline, budget ceiling, compliance needs and who maintains it after launch.

Send your scope to Codazz and we will reply with a proposal priced against it.

Software cost FAQ

What drives software cost?

Across our guides the same factors set the number: scope and feature complexity, the number of platforms, third-party integrations, compliance work such as HIPAA, and team composition and location. Every guide also budgets for what comes after launch — hosting, maintenance and, for AI products, ongoing model and token costs.

Why do quotes vary so much?

Hourly rates differ widely between onshore and offshore teams, and quotes often price different scopes. Many quotes also leave out line items — compliance, data migration, QA, project management or post-launch support — so a low total can hide costs that appear later. Compare what each quote includes before comparing totals.

Fixed price or time & materials?

Neither model is inherently cheaper. Fixed price turns scope risk into a higher rate; time & materials turns it into a variable bill. A common, sensible hybrid is a fixed price for discovery and design, then time & materials or fixed-per-milestone billing for the build once the backlog is real. Check how change orders are priced before comparing totals.

How do I get an exact quote?

The ranges in these guides are starting points; an exact number needs your scope. Share what you want to build, your must-have features and integrations, and your timeline, and we will come back with a scoped proposal. Contact Codazz for a scoped quote.
