Offshore developer hourly rates by region (September 2026)

The calculator uses these labelled agency-delivered ranges from our offshore development rates by country guide. They are market ranges from our own scoping and market observation, not a survey and not a quote.

India$15–$25/hr$25–$40/hr$35–$55/hr
Eastern EuropePoland, Romania, Ukraine, Baltics$20–$35/hr$35–$55/hr$50–$80/hr

How we calculate

For each region, the low hourly team rate is the sum of each engineer’s count multiplied by the bottom of their seniority band; the high rate uses the top of the band. Monthly cost is that hourly team rate multiplied by hours per engineer per month, and total cost multiplies the monthly figure by the project length.

Example: 2 mid-level engineers and 1 senior engineer in India at 160 hours a month for 6 months is (2 × $25 + 1 × $35) × 160 × 6 = $81,600 at the low end and (2 × $40 + 1 × $55) × 160 × 6 = $129,600 at the high end.

Results are estimates of agency-delivered ranges only. They leave out the hidden costs our rates guide covers, such as your own management time, rework from spec gaps and ramp-up time, so treat them as a budgeting starting point, not a quote.

Offshore team cost FAQ

How accurate is this offshore team cost calculator?

It multiplies your team mix by the labelled hourly ranges from our offshore development rates guide (as of September 2026). The result is an estimate of agency-delivered cost ranges, not a quote. Real proposals depend on stack, scope, included phases and the specific engineers.

Why are the ranges so wide?

Rates within a country vary more than rates between countries: a weak shop and a strong shop in the same city can differ by more than national averages do. The calculator shows the low and high end of each band so you can see the full spread instead of a single misleading number.

Do these rates include project management and QA?

The ranges are for agency-delivered work, where management, QA and accountability are included in the rate. Solo freelancers usually sit below these bands, and the unbundled delivery risk then sits with you.

How is "savings vs US/Canada" calculated?

The smallest saving compares the low end of the US/Canada range with the high end of the offshore range; the largest saving compares the high end of the US/Canada range with the low end of the offshore range. Both use the same team mix, hours and project length.
