Outsourcing & Engagement Models

Dedicated Development Team

A dedicated development team is an engagement model in which a vendor assigns a full-time team of engineers, and usually QA and project management, to work only on one client's product over a long period. The client sets goals and priorities, while the vendor runs the team and is responsible for delivery.

The model suits products with ongoing, evolving scope: a SaaS platform with a roadmap, a mobile app that ships every few weeks, or a modernisation programme that runs for a year. Because the same people stay on the product, knowledge of the codebase and the business builds up instead of being lost between projects.

Billing is normally a monthly fee per team member, which makes cost predictable while scope stays flexible. The client still needs a product owner who decides what matters next; the vendor provides the engineering capacity, the delivery process and the people management.

Exclusive team

Engineers work on one client's product only, not shared across accounts.

Long-term

Built for months or years of continuous development rather than a single release.

Vendor-run delivery

The provider manages the team, process and staffing; the client steers priorities.

Predictable cost

A monthly rate per role, with team size adjusted as the roadmap changes.

  • Project outsourcing delivers a defined scope, often at a fixed price, and the engagement ends at handover. A dedicated team is an ongoing capacity commitment: the scope changes month to month and the team keeps building the product for as long as the engagement runs.
