Service Overview

ERP Development Solutions for Denver Businesses

Colorado is one of the hardest states in the country to run an ERP in, and the reason is tax. Colorado has more than seventy self-collecting home-rule municipalities, and Denver, Aurora, Lakewood, Boulder, Westminster, Golden, Littleton, Greenwood Village and Centennial each define their own taxable base, their own exemptions and their own filing. A single delivery across a city line can change the rate, the base and the return it lands on. On top of that sits the Colorado Retail Delivery Fee, introduced July 1 2022 at 27 cents per retail delivery of taxable goods by motor vehicle and adjusted annually, which files on its own return and, where the retailer passes it to the customer rather than absorbing it under the retailer-paid election, has to print as its own invoice line. An ERP that treats Colorado as one tax jurisdiction will be wrong in production within a week. The buyers dealing with this are substantial. Ball Corporation in Westminster, Gates Industrial and Advanced Energy in Denver, CoorsTek in Golden, Terumo BCT in Lakewood, Vestas plants in Brighton, Windsor and Pueblo, Leprino Foods in Denver, Danone North America in Broomfield, JBS USA and Pilgrim's Pride in Greeley, and Arrow Electronics in Centennial all run manufacturing, distribution or process operations where cost, lot and landed-cost accuracy is the finance close. Civitas Resources, Antero Resources and the wider Denver-Julesburg operator base run joint-interest billing, revenue distribution and asset retirement obligations that no stock ERP module handles cleanly. Lockheed Martin Space in Littleton, BAE Systems Space and Mission Systems in Broomfield, United Launch Alliance in Centennial and their supplier tiers run project accounting under DCAA scrutiny with ITAR and CMMC boundaries around the data. Codazz builds, extends and integrates ERP for operations shaped like these. We do not have a Denver office. Our engineers work from Edmonton in Mountain Time at a zero-hour offset to Denver year-round, with overnight coverage from Chandigarh, and we are explicit about which controlled work an offshore team cannot touch.

What We Build

ERP Development Services We Offer in Denver

Denver ERP engagements come to us in four shapes. Implementation and rollout, where a growing Front Range manufacturer or distributor is moving off QuickBooks, Sage or a twenty-year-old on-premise install and needs the process design, chart of accounts, item and BOM model, cutover plan and change management done properly rather than fast. Extension, where the package is fine but the business is not standard: oil and gas joint-interest billing and revenue decks, cannabis cost accounting that survives an IRC Section 280E examination, resort and season-pass revenue recognition, or aerospace project accounting with government property and indirect rate pools. Integration, where ERP has to talk reliably to Metrc, a warehouse management system, a manufacturing execution system, EDI trading partners, a tax engine, a CRM and a data warehouse, built on documented contracts and idempotent messaging rather than scheduled file drops that fail silently at 2 AM. And rescue, where a partially completed implementation has stalled, the data migration failed reconciliation, or the business is running two systems in parallel and nobody can close the month. We take rescue work, and we start it by reconciling the numbers before we touch configuration.

Industry Expertise

ERP Development for Denver's Key Industries

Five Denver-area operating patterns account for most of our ERP work. Discrete and industrial manufacturing across Westminster, Golden, Lakewood and the northern corridor needs accurate standard costing, BOM and routing control, quality holds and lot genealogy tied to a manufacturing execution layer. Food, beverage and protein processing in Greeley, Broomfield and Denver needs catch weight, shelf life, allergen segregation and lot traceability granular enough to satisfy the FDA Food Traceability Rule under FSMA Section 204, whose compliance date has moved, so confirm the date that applies to you before scoping. Oil, gas and mining, including the Denver-Julesburg operators regulated by the Colorado Energy and Carbon Management Commission, renamed from the Oil and Gas Conservation Commission by Senate Bill 23-285 effective July 1 2023, needs joint-interest billing, revenue distribution by deck, division-order maintenance and asset retirement obligation accounting under ASC 410. Aerospace and defense suppliers around Littleton, Centennial and Broomfield need project accounting that survives DCAA review, government property tracking, indirect rate pools and Cost Accounting Standards discipline. Regulated cannabis operators need Metrc integration for seed-to-sale reporting to the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division and cost accounting rigorous enough to defend an IRC Section 280E position.

Our Process

Our ERP Development Development Process

ERP failures are almost never technical. They are unresolved process disagreements that surface at cutover, so our process forces them out early. Discovery produces a written current-state process map, a reconciled trial balance, a data quality assessment with counts and defect rates for items, BOMs, routings, customers, vendors and open transactions, and a list of every decision the business has been avoiding. We then run a conference room pilot against real data, not demo data, because a Denver-Julesburg operator or a Greeley protein processor will find the gap in a standard module inside an hour. Colorado-specific configuration is scoped as its own workstream: the home-rule tax matrix with a tax engine behind it, retail delivery fee handling, Colorado FAMLI and Healthy Families and Workplaces Act accruals in payroll, Colorado SecureSavings deductions where the employer has no qualifying plan, and Denver's Occupational Privilege Tax, which the city bills separately from state withholding. Configuration then runs against the finance calendar rather than a generic sprint rhythm: a working session at each period end so controllers see the new close in their own numbers before they depend on it, and a standing pilot environment that stays loaded so process owners can test a scenario the day they think of it. Edmonton keeps Denver's clock, so those sessions land inside your working day, and Chandigarh runs the overnight batch, posting and reconciliation cycles. Cutover is phased by legal entity or site wherever the business allows it, with at least three full migration dry runs, a documented reconciliation pack and a rehearsed rollback.

Technology

Technologies We Use for ERP Development

Package selection follows the operation. SAP S/4HANA, usually on RISE against Azure or AWS, for multi-entity manufacturers with real process complexity. Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP for finance-led enterprises, and NetSuite for the mid-market where the finance team is small and time to value matters more than depth. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations for organizations already committed to Azure, Entra ID and Power Platform, and Business Central below that line. Infor CloudSuite LN for discrete and aerospace work, and CloudSuite Food and Beverage for the Greeley and Broomfield process operations where catch weight, shelf life and lot genealogy matter. Epicor Kinetic and IFS Cloud for asset-heavy and service-heavy operations. Deltek Costpoint where DCAA-compliant project accounting, indirect rate pools and incurred cost submissions are mandatory. Colorado tax runs through Avalara or Vertex with home-rule jurisdiction mapping and the state's Sales and Use Tax System where it helps, never through a hand-maintained rate table. Integration sits on Boomi, MuleSoft, SAP Integration Suite or Azure Integration Services. Warehouse and execution layers connect through Manhattan, Blue Yonder or Korber, EDI through Cleo, SPS Commerce or TrueCommerce. Reporting consolidates into Snowflake, Databricks or Microsoft Fabric. Hosting defaults to AWS us-west-2, Azure West US 3 in Phoenix, or GCP us-west3 in Salt Lake City, with AWS GovCloud us-gov-west-1 or Azure Government where a contract requires it.

Why Choose Us

Why Denver Businesses Choose Codazz for ERP Development

We combine world-class engineering with local market understanding to deliver erp development solutions that drive real business outcomes.

🧾

Home-Rule Tax Built Properly

Seventy-plus self-collecting Colorado municipalities, each with its own base and exemptions, plus the retail delivery fee on its own line and its own return. We put a certified tax engine with rooftop address validation in the transaction path and govern product taxability centrally, because hand-kept rate tables fail audits.

⛏️

Front Range Operating Models

Joint-interest billing and asset retirement obligations for Denver-Julesburg operators, catch weight and lot genealogy for Greeley and Broomfield processors, DCAA project accounting for Littleton and Centennial aerospace suppliers, and 280E-defensible cost accounting for licensed cannabis. Standard modules do not cover these cleanly.

🕐

Zero Time Zone Gap

Edmonton runs on Mountain Time, the same clock as Denver, with no offset at any point in the year. Sprint demos, cutover calls and close-window escalations happen in your business hours. Chandigarh covers the overnight batch and close windows so problems are solved before your controller opens the ledger.

🔒

Honest Export-Control Boundary

In an ERP the export-control line runs through drawings, BOMs, routings and shipment records, not through the ledger. We flag those objects, inherit the flag down BOM levels, and scope attachments and interfaces to it, so the controlled slice stays in a US-person enclave while we build the finance, procurement and HR estate around it.

📍

Local Expertise

Our team understands the regulatory landscape, business culture, and user expectations specific to your city. We combine global engineering standards with hyper-local market knowledge to build products that resonate with your target audience from day one.

📈

Proven Track Record

With 500+ projects delivered across 24 countries since 2018, we bring battle-tested processes and domain expertise to every engagement. Our client retention rate of 94% speaks to the long-term partnerships we build, not just one-off projects.

👥

Dedicated Team

Every project gets a dedicated cross-functional team including a project manager, lead architect, senior developers, QA engineers, and a DevOps specialist. No freelancers, no outsourcing your project to third parties - your team is your team throughout.

🛠️

Post-Launch Support

Our relationship does not end at deployment. We provide 90 days of complimentary post-launch support, proactive monitoring, performance optimization, and a dedicated Slack channel for your team. Most clients continue with our maintenance retainer plans.

Ask a Question

Ranges, because scope and entity count dominate. A focused mid-market implementation on NetSuite, Business Central or Acumatica for a single legal entity, one or two sites, standard financials plus inventory, three integrations and a clean migration typically runs USD 120,000 to 350,000 in services over four to seven months. A multi-entity, multi-site implementation on Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, Infor CloudSuite or Epicor Kinetic with manufacturing, warehouse management, EDI, a tax engine and payroll integration typically runs USD 450,000 to 1,500,000. An S/4HANA or Oracle Fusion program for a Front Range enterprise with several legal entities, real process complexity and a phased multi-year rollout starts around USD 1,500,000 and scales with entity and site count. Custom extension work quoted separately, for example joint-interest billing, 280E cost accounting or a Metrc integration, typically runs USD 60,000 to 250,000 per module depending on depth. Denver consulting and engineering rates sit below the coastal enterprise-software bands and above most of the interior West, and ERP specifically carries a premium because the people who have actually closed books on a Front Range manufacturer are a small pool. Software licences and subscriptions are separate and usually exceed services over a five-year horizon, so we model total cost of ownership in the business case rather than presenting services in isolation.

Never with a rate table maintained by hand. Colorado has more than seventy self-collecting home-rule municipalities, each free to define its own taxable base and exemptions, so two cities can charge different rates on different definitions of the same product. Denver, Aurora, Lakewood, Boulder, Golden, Littleton, Greenwood Village, Westminster and Centennial all self-collect. The architecture we build puts a certified tax engine, Avalara or Vertex, in the transaction path with address validation at rooftop level rather than by postal code, because Denver postal codes cross municipal boundaries and the wrong side of a line is a wrong return. Product taxability is mapped once to engine tax codes and governed, not maintained per-item by whoever last touched the record. The Colorado Retail Delivery Fee, which took effect July 1 2022 at 27 cents per retail delivery of taxable goods by motor vehicle and is adjusted annually, is configured as its own charge line so it prints separately on the invoice as required, accrues to its own liability account and files on its own return, with the small-retailer election handled where it applies. We also build the exemption certificate workflow, because home-rule audits reliably find missing certificates before they find rate errors.

More than most out-of-state implementers expect. Colorado's Family and Medical Leave Insurance program, created by Proposition 118, began premium collection on January 1 2023 and benefits on January 1 2024, with premiums shared between employer and employee for employers above the covered-size threshold, so the deduction, the employer accrual, the wage base and the leave balance all have to exist in payroll and in the general ledger. The Healthy Families and Workplaces Act, Senate Bill 20-205, requires paid sick leave accruing at one hour per thirty hours worked up to an annual cap, and has applied to employers of all sizes since January 1 2022, which means accrual rules, carryover and usage tracking. Colorado SecureSavings requires covered employers without a qualifying retirement plan to register and run payroll deductions. The Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, Senate Bill 19-085 as amended by Senate Bill 23-105 effective January 1 2024, requires compensation ranges and benefits in job postings plus post-selection notices, which turns the position and compensation structure in the HCM into a compliance artifact. Denver adds its Occupational Privilege Tax, billed by the city separately from state withholding on a per-employee monthly basis. We configure and test all of it against real pay periods before go-live.

Partly, and in an ERP the boundary runs through specific tables rather than around the whole system, which is what makes the question answerable. Our engineers in Edmonton and Chandigarh are foreign persons under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations, so controlled technical data cannot be released to them. In an ERP estate that data is narrower than people assume and lives in identifiable places: engineering drawings and specifications attached to the item master, bills of material and routings that reveal how a controlled article is made, quality and non-conformance records tied to those parts, and shipment documentation naming end use or end user. What is almost never controlled is the ledger. General ledger and consolidation, accounts payable and receivable, the vendor and customer masters stripped of end-use detail, indirect rate pools and provisional billing rates, labour distribution structures, incurred cost submission mechanics, human resources and payroll, and the commercial product lines sitting in the same instance are ordinary business records. So the design work is a classification layer: an export-control flag carried on the item, document and project objects, inherited down BOM levels rather than set by hand, that drives attachment visibility, interface filtering and role scope. The controlled slice runs in a separately hosted enclave, typically GovCloud or Azure Government under Deltek Costpoint or an equivalent, staffed by screened US persons you control. We build and support the uncontrolled majority, and we build the flagging and access-review machinery that proves the split held. Confirm the flow-down clauses in your specific award, including the CMMC requirements under the 32 CFR Part 170 program rule effective December 16 2024, before scoping.

Two things, and both are accounting rather than software problems. First, seed-to-sale. Colorado's Marijuana Enforcement Division requires tracking through Metrc, so the ERP has to reconcile against Metrc rather than treat it as an afterthought: every plant tag, harvest batch, package, transfer manifest, waste event and retail sale has to agree between the two systems, and the reconciliation has to run daily with exceptions surfaced to a named owner, because a divergence found at audit is a licence problem. Second, IRC Section 280E. Federal tax law denies ordinary business deductions to businesses trafficking in a Schedule I controlled substance, leaving cost of goods sold under Section 471 as the only recoverable path, which forces cost accounting far more granular than a normal consumer-goods operation needs. That means absorbing cultivation, production and packaging costs into inventory with defensible allocation bases, keeping non-deductible selling and administrative activity cleanly segregated in both the chart of accounts and the cost model, and producing documentation that supports the allocations if examined. Rescheduling has been discussed federally for years, but 280E remains the operating assumption until a rule is actually final, so we build the cost model to hold up either way rather than betting on a change.

By making cutover boring before it happens. We phase by legal entity, site or module wherever the business allows it, so a failure affects one plant rather than the company. Data migration runs as a repeatable, scripted pipeline rather than a manual load, executed as a minimum of three full dry runs against production-shaped volumes, each ending in a reconciliation pack that ties trial balance, open receivables and payables, inventory quantity and value, open purchase and sales orders, and work-in-process back to the legacy system line by line, signed off by the controller rather than by us. Cross-functional integration testing runs on a full business cycle including a simulated month-end close, not on happy-path transactions. Every interface is built idempotent with replay and a dead-letter path, so a failed message at 2 AM is recoverable rather than a silent gap discovered at close. We define go-live and rollback criteria in writing beforehand, with the specific numbers that trigger each. And we plan hypercare as staffed weeks, not goodwill, with the Chandigarh overnight window covering batch and close windows so a Denver controller who finds a variance at 6 AM Mountain has an answer waiting rather than a ticket.
