Service Overview

CRM Development Solutions for Winnipeg Businesses

Winnipeg CRM projects almost never start as pipeline projects. They start as channel problems. Manitoba Public Insurance sells and services through roughly 300 independent insurance brokers and a dozen claim and service centres, so the customer of record and the seller of record sit in different organisations running different systems. Canada Life, Great-West Lifeco and IGM Financial reach policyholders and investors through advisors and dealers rather than a direct funnel. Wawanesa Mutual, with its head office in Wawanesa and its executive office in Winnipeg, runs one of the ten largest property and casualty books in Canada entirely through brokers. Richardson Pioneer sells crop inputs to the same farm it buys grain from, so the account is a farm operation spread across several legal land descriptions and two or three family members, not a person with an email address. NFI Group sells transit buses to municipal agencies through public procurements that outlast the individual buyer's job. Skip, the food delivery business headquartered in Winnipeg, acquires restaurants and couriers on two completely different lifecycles. A stock CRM template breaks on every one of these. Codazz builds and rebuilds CRM systems for Winnipeg revenue, member and broker teams: Salesforce Sales Cloud and Service Cloud, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales on tenants that already run Microsoft 365, HubSpot for growth-stage companies, and fully custom CRMs on PostgreSQL when the relationship genuinely is not an opportunity moving through stages. Manitoba has never brought a general private-sector privacy statute into force, so PIPEDA governs commercial personal data here, and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation governs every message the CRM sends. We design consent evidence into the data model in the first sprint, because a migration that destroys consent proof is the most expensive CRM failure we get called in to repair. Codazz is headquartered in Edmonton, one hour behind Winnipeg year-round, so a nine o'clock workshop on Broadway is an eight o'clock workshop for the engineers building the system, and our Chandigarh team covers the overnight window. We do not keep a Winnipeg office and will not claim one. We serve Manitoba clients remotely, travelling in for discovery workshops and go-live support. Codazz has built software since 2018, delivered more than 500 projects and runs a team of over 200 engineers. Reach us at +1 (403) 604-8692.

What We Build

CRM Development Services We Offer in Winnipeg

Our Winnipeg CRM work falls into seven repeatable engagements. New Salesforce or Dynamics 365 implementations for teams moving off spreadsheets, shared Outlook folders and an abandoned trial org, delivered with a consent-aware data model instead of a stock package. Broker and advisor channel CRM, where the producing broker, the brokerage, the policyholder and the household are four separate records with four separate consent positions. Custom CRM development on PostgreSQL and TypeScript when the relationship is a farm operation, a co-op membership, a credit union member household or a multi-year public procurement rather than a deal in a stage. CASL consent architecture covering express and implied capture, expiry clocks, unsubscribe handling and the audit trail that proves consent existed on the day a message was sent. CRM consolidation after a merger, book purchase or agency roll-up, where two contact databases and two incompatible consent histories have to become one. Integration work connecting the CRM to policy administration, core banking, ERP, quoting and claims systems so the sales team stops rekeying. And rescue work on an implementation that went live, lost the field team's trust and now runs in parallel with the spreadsheets it was meant to replace.

Industry Expertise

CRM Development for Winnipeg's Key Industries

Five Winnipeg segments drive most of our CRM work. Insurance and wealth is the largest: Canada Life and Great-West Lifeco on Osborne, IGM Financial on Portage, Wawanesa's executive office and Manitoba Public Insurance all distribute through intermediaries, which means channel conflict, split consent ownership between brokerage and carrier, and licensing status that has to be a field rather than a note. Agriculture and grain is the second: Richardson Pioneer, Cargill Canada, Paterson and the wider elevator network hold accounts keyed to farm operations and legal land descriptions, with a sales cycle that collapses into seeding and harvest windows and goes quiet in between. Advanced manufacturing is the third: NFI Group, Price Industries, Boeing Winnipeg and Magellan Aerospace sell into public transit agencies, prime contractors and specification-driven buyers, where the CRM is tracking a bid, a spec revision and a compliance matrix rather than a lead score. Member and co-operative organisations are the fourth: Manitoba credit unions are provincially regulated rather than OSFI supervised, and a member household is not a sales account. Public sector is the fifth, where the Province of Manitoba, the City of Winnipeg and Crown corporations run constituent and licensee relationships under FIPPA rather than customer relationships under PIPEDA.

Our Process

Our CRM Development Development Process

Discovery runs on Central Time so Winnipeg sales leadership, marketing, compliance and IT are in the same room rather than passing notes across a time zone. Week one is a consent audit before a single field is mapped: what express consent exists, what implied consent exists, when each implied consent expires, and what documentary evidence survives in the current system. That audit almost always shrinks the mailable list, and it is far cheaper to learn that in week one than after a complaint reaches the CRTC. In parallel we run a relationship modelling workshop, because the Winnipeg buyer's real object graph is usually farm operation to legal land description to operator, or brokerage to producing broker to policyholder to household, and forcing that into a stock account and contact schema is how these projects fail. We then map data flows against PIPEDA purpose limitation, check whether The Personal Health Information Act applies to anything the CRM will hold, and confirm the residency requirement before a licence is signed. Build sprints are two weeks with a working environment the field team can click through from sprint two. Migration runs twice: a rehearsal against production-scale data with a reconciliation report, then the real cutover. Go-live includes field training in the client's own vocabulary and a thirty-day hypercare window.

Technology

Technologies We Use for CRM Development

Platform choice follows the relationship model and the residency requirement, not the other way round. Salesforce Sales Cloud and Service Cloud suit broker, advisor and service-heavy books where Experience Cloud portals, Flow automation and a mature AppExchange ecosystem earn their licence cost. Dynamics 365 Sales is the honest default where the tenant already runs Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Power BI, because identity, Teams integration and Power Platform extension come free of a second vendor relationship. HubSpot fits growth-stage Winnipeg companies whose problem is marketing execution rather than a complicated object graph. When the relationship is genuinely not an opportunity in a stage we build custom on PostgreSQL, TypeScript, Next.js and Prisma, with row-level security, an append-only consent ledger and full-text search on Postgres rather than a bolted-on service. Integration runs on documented REST and GraphQL contracts, Azure Service Bus or AWS EventBridge for asynchronous events, and Fivetran or Airbyte into a warehouse when reporting is the real requirement. Hosting defaults to AWS ca-west-1 in Calgary, the closer of the two Canadian AWS regions to Winnipeg, with ca-central-1 in Montreal for services ca-west-1 does not yet carry, or Azure Canada Central in Toronto for Microsoft-standard tenants. We verify a SaaS vendor's published data residency options against the procurement requirement before the contract is signed.

Why Choose Us

Why Winnipeg Businesses Choose Codazz for CRM Development

We combine world-class engineering with local market understanding to deliver crm development solutions that drive real business outcomes.

🤝

Channel-First Data Modelling

Winnipeg revenue runs through brokers, advisors, dealers and elevators. We model the brokerage, the producing broker, the policyholder and the household as four linked records with four consent positions, so a carrier message is never sent on a broker's consent and a departing broker never silently takes the book.

CASL Consent Built In

Consent typing, expiry clocks, provenance and unsubscribe propagation go into the data model in sprint one, not into a marketing tool's settings before launch. We migrate an append-only consent ledger with a reconciliation report, and treat any contact without provable consent as unmailable rather than quietly mailable.

🌾

Farm And Member Accounts

Richardson Pioneer-style ag retail and Manitoba credit union member books do not fit a stock account and contact schema. We build farm operations across legal land descriptions and member households as first-class objects on PostgreSQL, with seasonal cycles the sales team actually works reflected in the pipeline.

🍁

Canadian Residency, Verified

Residency is decided by the CRM vendor and its sub-processors, not by your cloud preference. We get the hosting region, sub-processor list and support access model in writing before the licence is signed, check the email sending, enrichment and analytics layers separately, and say plainly when a preferred product cannot comply.

📍

Local Expertise

Our team understands the regulatory landscape, business culture, and user expectations specific to your city. We combine global engineering standards with hyper-local market knowledge to build products that resonate with your target audience from day one.

📈

Proven Track Record

With 500+ projects delivered across 24 countries since 2018, we bring battle-tested processes and domain expertise to every engagement. Our client retention rate of 94% speaks to the long-term partnerships we build, not just one-off projects.

👥

Dedicated Team

Every project gets a dedicated cross-functional team including a project manager, lead architect, senior developers, QA engineers, and a DevOps specialist. No freelancers, no outsourcing your project to third parties - your team is your team throughout.

🛠️

Post-Launch Support

Our relationship does not end at deployment. We provide 90 days of complimentary post-launch support, proactive monitoring, performance optimization, and a dedicated Slack channel for your team. Most clients continue with our maintenance retainer plans.

Ask a Question

Scope drives everything, so we quote ranges honestly and then fix the fee against a signed statement of work. A focused implementation for one team, with a clean object model, standard objects, a consent-aware data model, two integrations and migration of a single source system, typically runs CAD 45,000 to 110,000 over eight to fourteen weeks. A multi-team or channel CRM covering brokers or advisors, a partner portal, three to six integrations into policy administration or ERP, and migration from two or more legacy systems typically runs CAD 130,000 to 400,000. A fully custom CRM on PostgreSQL, built because the relationship model is a farm operation, a member household or a multi-year procurement rather than an opportunity pipeline, runs CAD 200,000 to 600,000 and up depending on how much of the surrounding workflow comes with it. Licence costs sit on top and are paid to the platform vendor, not to us. Winnipeg senior engineering rates run meaningfully below Toronto and Vancouver and modestly below Calgary, and far below New York or San Francisco equivalents, which is the main reason Prairie buyers can afford a custom build where a coastal buyer settles for a configured package.

CASL has been in force since 1 July 2014 and it is an opt-in regime, which makes it stricter than what most CRM templates assume. It applies to commercial electronic messages, so marketing email, SMS and some in-app messaging all count. Practically it forces four things into the data model rather than into a marketing tool's settings. First, consent has to be typed: express consent, or implied consent with its own basis, because implied consent from an existing business relationship expires two years after the transaction and implied consent from an inquiry expires six months after it. Second, every consent record needs provenance: the date, the method, the exact wording shown and the source system, because in a complaint the burden of proving consent sits on the sender. Third, unsubscribe has to be honoured within ten business days and has to propagate to every sending system, not just the one the recipient clicked in. Fourth, consent must survive migration, which is exactly where it usually dies. We build an append-only consent ledger, migrate it with a reconciliation report, and treat a contact with no provable consent as unmailable rather than quietly mailable.

Correct, and it matters. Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec have general private-sector privacy statutes that the federal Privacy Commissioner has declared substantially similar to PIPEDA. Manitoba has never brought one into force, so PIPEDA governs commercial personal data handled by Winnipeg businesses, including consent, purpose limitation, access requests and mandatory breach reporting. Three other regimes usually join it. The Personal Health Information Act, C.C.S.M. c. P33.5, applies whenever a trustee's personal health information enters the CRM, and Manitoba's health statute has not been declared substantially similar to PIPEDA, so the provincial rules govern that data on their own terms. The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act applies instead of PIPEDA when the client is a Manitoba public body. And because most Winnipeg companies sell outside Manitoba, the CRM has to honour Alberta and British Columbia PIPA for prairie and west coast customers, and Quebec's Law 25, whose obligations phased in between September 2022 and September 2024, for Quebec ones. We build one consent and rights engine that satisfies the strictest applicable regime rather than four regional forks.

Yes, and it is the pattern we see most often in Winnipeg. Manitoba Public Insurance distributes through roughly 300 independent brokers, Wawanesa runs a national broker book, and Canada Life and IGM Financial reach clients through advisors and dealers. The modelling problem is that the person in the CRM is not the customer of the company that owns the CRM. We separate the brokerage entity, the individual producing broker, the policyholder and the household into four linked records, each with its own consent position, because a policyholder consenting to hear from their broker has not consented to hear from the carrier. Licensing status, appointment status and errors and omissions currency become structured fields with expiry dates that drive access, not free-text notes. Territory and commission splits are modelled explicitly so a broker leaving a brokerage does not silently take a book with them or orphan it. Portal access runs on Salesforce Experience Cloud or a custom Next.js portal behind the client's identity provider, with row-level security that a broker cannot escape by editing a URL. Every carrier-initiated message is checked against carrier-level consent, not brokerage-level consent.

We recommend against our own commercial interest here, because the wrong platform costs more to live with than it costs to build. Dynamics 365 Sales is usually the right answer when the organisation already runs Microsoft 365 and Entra ID, which describes a large share of Winnipeg manufacturers, Crown corporations and mid-market firms, since identity, Teams, Power BI and Power Automate arrive without a second vendor relationship. Salesforce is the right answer when the book is intermediated, service volume is high, or a partner portal is central, and when the organisation can staff or retain a Salesforce administrator, which is the real constraint in a market this size. HubSpot is the right answer for a growth-stage company whose actual problem is marketing execution and whose object graph is genuinely simple. Custom on PostgreSQL is the right answer when the core entity is a farm operation across legal land descriptions, a member household, a working interest or a multi-year public procurement, because bending a stock schema around those relationships produces a system nobody trusts. We run a two-week evaluation before recommending, and we put the residency and administrator-availability questions ahead of the feature comparison.

Sometimes, and the answer depends on the specific product rather than on your cloud preference, which is why we settle it before a licence is signed instead of after. For a custom CRM it is straightforward: we pin storage, compute, backups, logs and search to a Canadian region and prove it in an architecture document. For a packaged CRM you are buying the vendor's hosting decisions, and those vary by product, by edition and sometimes by when the tenant was provisioned, so a legacy org migrated years ago may not sit where the current marketing page says new customers are placed. We ask for the hosting region in writing rather than inferring it. The layer that catches Winnipeg buyers out is almost never the CRM database. It is the surrounding estate: the email sending platform, enrichment and data-append vendors, call recording, chat widgets, backup tooling and the analytics layer are separate sub-processors with separate regions and separate support access paths. We request the full sub-processor list, check each entry against the procurement requirement, document where support staff can reach production data from, and tell the client plainly when a preferred product cannot comply.
