Product Design Services We Offer in Sydney
Sydney product teams expect design work that survives contact with Atlassian-grade engineering and Canva-grade visual craft. Special Group has reset what brand-led product design looks like in APAC, Studio Christopher Doyle ships identity work for serious institutional clients, and Frost*collective, Hulsbosch, and Re Agency keep raising the bar on system thinking. Our product design services mirror that standard. We run generative and evaluative research with Sydney users (in-person at our Pyrmont meeting space or remote on Lookback and Maze), build tokenised design systems on Figma Variables and Tokens Studio that integrate with Atlassian Design Tokens patterns, deliver accessibility audits aligned to WCAG 2.2 AA and DDA case law, and ship design ops practices that scale from a four-person startup through an APRA-regulated mutual bank.
Our Product Design Development Process
We run discovery, definition, design, and delivery on AEST hours so Sydney product, engineering, and compliance leads get synchronous reviews instead of overnight async limbo. Discovery opens with stakeholder interviews, a Privacy Act and APRA CPS 234 design constraint workshop where the product touches regulated data, and a cultural review for any service that may serve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities (welcome-to-country acknowledgement patterns, imagery sensitivity, language conventions). Definition produces a problem statement, jobs-to-be-done, and a measurable success metric tied to a business KPI rather than a design vanity score. Design sprints run two weeks with Figma reviews and clickable prototypes tested against five to eight Sydney participants per round. Delivery hands off tokens, components, and a Storybook or Atlassian-style documentation site that engineering can consume without translation work.
Research & Discovery
1-2 WeeksWe conduct stakeholder interviews, competitive analysis, user surveys, and analytics review to understand your users' needs, pain points, and goals.
Information Architecture
1-2 WeeksWe define the content structure, navigation patterns, and user flows that form the backbone of an intuitive user experience.
Wireframing & Prototyping
2-3 WeeksCreate low and mid-fidelity wireframes for key screens, then build interactive prototypes for stakeholder review and usability testing.
Visual Design
3-4 WeeksApply visual styling, micro-interactions, and animations to create polished, high-fidelity designs that reflect your brand and delight users.
Design Handoff
1 WeekWe prepare developer-ready assets with detailed specifications, export all design tokens, and support your engineering team during implementation.
Technologies We Use for Product Design
Sydney product design stacks have largely converged. Figma is the default canvas, with Variables and Tokens Studio for theme management and Figma Dev Mode for engineering handoff. We build component libraries that map cleanly to React (Atlassian's preferred stack), Vue, or Svelte, and we produce design tokens in W3C DTCG format that flow through Style Dictionary into iOS, Android, and web codebases. Research tools include Dovetail (built in Sydney), Lookback, Maze, and UserTesting. For accessibility we run Axe DevTools, Stark, and manual screen reader testing on NVDA and VoiceOver, then audit against WCAG 2.2 AA with DDA case law cross-checks. Prototyping spans Figma, ProtoPie for interaction-heavy flows, and Framer for marketing surfaces. All artefacts sit in Australian-resident storage when APRA CPS 234 or Privacy Act obligations apply.
