Service Overview

AI Agent Development Solutions for Detroit Businesses

AI agents in Detroit get bought by organizations that run physical operations, and that changes the engineering problem. General Motors is headquartered downtown and runs its Global Technology Center in Warren. Ford is in Dearborn and reopened Michigan Central Station in Corktown in 2024 as an innovation campus anchored by Newlab. Stellantis runs its North American operations from Auburn Hills and assembles vehicles at the Detroit Assembly Complex on Mack Avenue and at Jefferson North. Around them sits the densest Tier-1 supplier base in North America: American Axle in Detroit, Lear and Denso in Southfield, BorgWarner and Continental in Auburn Hills, Aptiv and Magna in Troy, ZF in Northville, Adient in Plymouth and Bosch in Farmington Hills. Rocket Companies runs Rocket Mortgage, Rocket Money and Redfin out of downtown Detroit. Ally Financial operates from Ally Detroit Center. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and DTE Energy are headquartered in the city. Henry Ford Health runs thirteen hospitals and includes Health Alliance Plan. Wayne State University supplies research and engineering talent, and the University of Michigan operates Mcity in Ann Arbor. Forty minutes north, the Detroit Arsenal in Warren hosts the Army DEVCOM Ground Vehicle Systems Center and TACOM, with General Dynamics Land Systems in Sterling Heights. Codazz builds production AI agents for these buyers from Edmonton and Chandigarh. We do not have a Detroit office and we say so up front, because what matters to a plant manager in Warren is whether an approval gate fires at 6 AM shift change, not whether we have a lobby on Woodward. Michigan has no comprehensive consumer privacy statute, so we wire the layer that actually applies: FTC Act Section 5, the Michigan Consumer Protection Act, the Michigan Identity Theft Protection Act breach duty, HIPAA where clinical workflow is in scope, ECOA and Regulation B where lending decisions are in scope, and CMMC where defense work is in scope. Every agent ships with a tool allow-list, an immutable action log, and a documented kill switch.

What We Build

AI Agent Development Services We Offer in Detroit

Detroit agent work splits into four buyer types with genuinely different risk profiles, and we build for all four. Plant and supply chain agents sit against MES, quality, and ERP systems for automakers and Tier-1 suppliers: shortage triage across a multi-tier bill of materials, supplier PPAP and change-notice chasing, container and customs exception handling on the Detroit and Windsor corridor, and warranty claim triage that reads dealer narratives and routes them to the right engineering group. Financial services agents for mortgage and auto finance operations handle document intake, condition clearing, servicing correspondence, and collections triage, always short of the decision itself because ECOA adverse action reasoning has to trace to a governed model, not a language model narrative. Clinical and payer operations agents for health systems and health plans draft prior authorization appeals, reconcile eligibility, and triage referral queues under a signed BAA. Defense and ground vehicle agents run fully self hosted for suppliers inside the CMMC perimeter, with controlled unclassified information never reaching a hosted model endpoint. Every engagement includes a NIST AI Risk Management Framework aligned risk profile, a tool by tool policy map, and an action log keyed to user, tool, approval, and outcome.

Task Automation Agents

Agents that run entire back-office workflows end to end — invoice processing, cross-system reconciliation, email triage, recurring reporting. Unlike RPA scripts that shatter when a field moves, these work from the goal and adapt to the interface they find, escalating the cases they are not confident about instead of failing silently.

Customer Support Agents

Support agents that resolve rather than deflect — authenticating the customer, pulling live order and subscription data, issuing refunds inside your policy limits, and closing the ticket. Complex cases transfer to your team with the full context already gathered so nobody has to repeat themselves.

Multi-Agent Systems

Teams of specialist agents coordinated by a supervisor that decomposes the goal, routes each sub-task, and verifies the result before accepting it. Industry Expertise

AI Agent Development for Detroit's Key Industries

Automotive and mobility is the center of gravity. Agents here work against PLM, MES, quality management, and supplier portals, and the hard part is never the language model, it is that a wrong write to a production schedule costs real money within one shift. We keep those agents read heavy and gate every write. Financial services is the second cluster, driven by Rocket Companies, Ally Financial, Credit Acceptance in Southfield, and the credit unions across the metro. These agents live under GLBA, ECOA and Regulation B, FCRA, and UDAAP scrutiny, so the agent drafts and a governed system decides. Healthcare and health plans, including Henry Ford Health, the Detroit Medical Center, Corewell Health, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, drive prior authorization, appeals, and eligibility agents under HIPAA with clinician or reviewer sign off on anything touching care. Defense and ground vehicle work around Detroit Arsenal, General Dynamics Land Systems, and American Rheinmetall Vehicles in Sterling Heights runs entirely inside the supplier perimeter. Public sector and utility work for the City of Detroit and DTE Energy adds records retention, accessibility, and public disclosure obligations that shape how logs and transcripts are stored.

Our Process

Our AI Agent Development Development Process

Detroit runs on Eastern Time and Edmonton is two hours behind it, so a 9:00 AM ET standup with your operations lead, IT director, and compliance counsel is a 7:00 AM MT call for our team, and our Chandigarh engineers have already closed the overnight build window by then. That offset is useful rather than awkward: work queued at the end of a Detroit business day is in review before the next one starts. Discovery opens with three reviews. First, a data classification pass over everything the agent will read, because Michigan has no state privacy statute to lean on and the real constraints come from contracts, sector rules, and the Michigan Identity Theft Protection Act notice duty if the data ever leaks. Second, a decision authority map that names which actions the agent may take alone, which need one approver, and which need two. Third, a supplier and export review when defense or controlled technical data is anywhere near scope. Build sprints run two weeks with Thursday demos at 2:00 PM ET. Red teaming runs continuously with PyRIT, Garak, and a scenario pack written for your domain, covering prompt injection through supplier emails, tool misuse, and data exfiltration through retrieval. Deployment ships action logs into the SIEM your team already runs.

Technologies We Use for AI Agent Development

The closest AWS region to Detroit is us-east-2 in Ohio, roughly 200 miles south, which is where most of our Michigan agent workloads run, paired with us-east-1 in Northern Virginia for disaster recovery. Google Cloud us-east5 sits in Columbus and gives Vertex AI and Gemini a comparable latency profile, with us-central1 in Iowa as the alternate. Azure buyers land on North Central US in Illinois or Central US in Iowa, with East US 2 in Virginia for scale. Detroit has a cross border wrinkle most US markets do not: suppliers and dealer networks operating through Windsor and southwestern Ontario often need Canadian residency for personal data, so we place those tenants in AWS ca-central-1, Azure Canada Central in Toronto, or Google northamerica-northeast2 in Toronto and northamerica-northeast1 in Montreal, and document the flow rather than pretending the border does not exist. Orchestration is LangGraph when the workflow is a state machine with real branching, CrewAI when role specialization actually earns its complexity, Microsoft AutoGen for Microsoft 365 and Dynamics shops, and the OpenAI Assistants API when a managed runtime is the right trade. Tools connect over Model Context Protocol servers or plain REST clients. Tracing runs on LangSmith, LangFuse, or Arize Phoenix. Guardrails use NeMo Guardrails, Lakera Guard, and Llama Guard 3. Defense work runs self hosted Llama or Qwen weights on private GPU capacity with no outbound model calls.

Why Choose Us

Why Detroit Businesses Choose Codazz for AI Agent Development

We combine world-class engineering with local market understanding to deliver ai agent development solutions that drive real business outcomes.

🏭

Plant-Floor Approval Discipline

Agents touching MES, ERP, quality holds, or production schedules stay read-heavy by default. Every write sits behind a named approver with a structured payload showing intent, evidence, and predicted impact. A wrong write costs a shift in Warren or on Mack Avenue, so we treat writes as the exception rather than the default.

⚖️

Honest About Michigan Law

Michigan has no comprehensive privacy statute and SB 359 of 2025 stalled in the Committee of the Whole. We build to what actually applies: FTC Act Section 5, the Michigan Consumer Protection Act, the Identity Theft Protection Act breach duty, plus HIPAA, GLBA, ECOA and CMMC by sector.

🛡️

CMMC-Boundary Agent Builds

For Detroit Arsenal suppliers we run open-weight models on your own GPU capacity, orchestration inside your assessed boundary, retrieval against internal repositories, and zero outbound inference. Guardrail classifiers run locally. Offshore engineering stays on non-controlled layers behind clean interfaces where US-person rules apply.

🌉

Cross-Border Data Handling

Detroit operations routinely span Windsor and southwestern Ontario. Tenants needing Canadian residency land in AWS ca-central-1, Azure Canada Central, or Google northamerica-northeast2 in Toronto, with the flow documented for counsel instead of quietly routed through Ohio and discovered during an audit.

Ask a Question

Scope drives everything, so we quote ranges and then a fixed fee against a signed statement of work. A scoped proof of concept, meaning one agent, three to five tools, an evaluation suite, an action log dashboard, and a hosted demo behind your SSO, typically runs USD 30,000 to 70,000 across six to ten weeks. A production agent against real systems of record, such as supplier shortage triage against your ERP and MES, prior authorization drafting against a payer portal, or document intake for a mortgage operation, typically runs USD 110,000 to 300,000 including guardrails, the human approval console, observability, and the compliance documentation pack. A multi agent platform with shared memory, custom evaluators, and deep integration into SAP, Epic, ServiceNow, or a dealer management system runs USD 300,000 to 800,000 and up, usually phased. Detroit senior engineering rates sit below San Francisco and New York at equivalent seniority and track closer to Chicago and Minneapolis than to the coasts, though the gap moves with the market and we quote against your scope rather than a benchmark. Defense work costs more because the self hosted, no outbound inference architecture removes the cheap option. We deliver from Edmonton and Chandigarh, which is part of why the number lands where it does.

Correct, and it is worth being precise about it. Michigan has not enacted a comprehensive consumer data privacy statute. Senate Bill 359 of 2025, the proposed Michigan Personal Data Privacy Act sponsored by Senator Rosemary Bayer, was introduced on June 5 2025, reported favorably out of the Senate Finance, Insurance and Consumer Protection committee in mid June 2025, and referred to the Committee of the Whole, where it has not advanced to law. Its predecessor, Senate Bill 659 of 2023, also failed to be enacted. So what governs you is a different stack. Section 5 of the FTC Act reaches unfair and deceptive practices, including claims you make about what an agent does. The Michigan Consumer Protection Act, 1976 PA 331, MCL 445.901 and following, covers deceptive practices in trade and commerce at the state level. The Michigan Identity Theft Protection Act, 2004 PA 452, requires breach notice to Michigan residents without unreasonable delay under MCL 445.72. The Social Security Number Privacy Act, 2004 PA 454, effective March 1 2005, requires a written privacy policy for anyone handling SSNs in the ordinary course of business. Layer sector rules on top: HIPAA, GLBA, ECOA, FCRA, CMMC. We build to that stack and note in the risk file that a Michigan statute may land later, so the controls do not need a rebuild if it does.

Michigan has no comprehensive AI governance act. The AI statutes actually on the books are narrow and election focused. Public Act 264 of 2023, enrolled House Bill 5143, was approved by the Governor on November 30 2023 and took effect February 13 2024, adding a definition of artificial intelligence to the Michigan Campaign Finance Act at MCL 169.202. Public Act 265 of 2023, enrolled House Bill 5144, was approved on the same date with the same February 13 2024 effective date, and adds MCL 168.932f prohibiting the distribution of materially deceptive media in connection with elections, with disclosure requirements where AI generated content is used. Unless you are building political communications tooling, those acts will not touch your agent directly. What does apply is the general body of law that does not care whether a model was involved: consumer protection, employment discrimination law, lending and insurance rules, professional licensure, and contract. We therefore govern Detroit agent builds against the NIST AI Risk Management Framework rather than a Michigan checklist, because NIST AI RMF is the artifact your counsel, your customers, and your auditors will actually recognize, and it maps cleanly onto whatever statute Michigan eventually passes.

Yes, and the architecture is different from everything else we do in this market. The Detroit Arsenal in Warren hosts the Army DEVCOM Ground Vehicle Systems Center and TACOM, and the supplier base around it, including General Dynamics Land Systems in Sterling Heights and American Rheinmetall Vehicles, handles controlled unclassified information. The CMMC Program rule at 32 CFR Part 170 was published October 15 2024 and took effect December 16 2024. The acquisition side, the DFARS rule that puts CMMC requirements into contracts, was published September 10 2025 and took effect November 10 2025, phasing in through solicitations. For a supplier at Level 2, that means NIST SP 800-171 controls with a third party assessment. Practically, we run the entire agent stack inside your assessed boundary: open weight models such as Llama or Qwen on your own GPU capacity, orchestration inside your VPC or on premise, retrieval against internal repositories only, and zero outbound calls to hosted model APIs. Guardrail classifiers run locally too. Our Chandigarh engineers work on non controlled layers behind clean interfaces where US person constraints apply. We are not your assessor and we do not claim to be, but we build to the boundary your assessor signs.

Four patterns hold up in production. Shortage and constraint triage: the agent reads MRP exception reports, supplier confirmations, and inbound logistics status, then assembles a case file for the buyer with the root cause, the affected builds, and the two or three options, and it does not reschedule anything by itself. Change notice and PPAP chasing: the agent tracks engineering change notices through the supplier base, drafts the follow ups, and escalates the ones aging past threshold. Customs and cross border exception handling, which matters more in Detroit than almost anywhere given the Ambassador Bridge and the Gordie Howe International Bridge, where the agent reconciles broker documents, commercial invoices, and carrier status against a shipment record and flags mismatches before a truck is sitting at the crossing. Warranty and field quality triage, where the agent reads dealer repair narratives and telematics context, clusters them, and routes candidate issues to the right engineering owner. What does not work is letting an agent write to a production schedule, release a supplier payment, or close a quality hold. Those stay behind a named human approver with a structured payload and a logged decision.

The rule we hold to is that a language model may draft, summarize, retrieve, and route, but it does not decide anything a regulator would call a credit decision. Under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act and Regulation B, an applicant who is denied credit or gets less favorable terms is entitled to specific principal reasons, and those reasons have to trace back to the actual decisioning logic. A generated explanation that sounds plausible but does not correspond to the model that made the call is a compliance problem, not a UX improvement. So we architect the agent around the decision engine rather than through it: the agent pulls the reason codes from the governed system and renders them, it never authors them. Adverse action timing, FCRA disclosures where a consumer report was used, and record retention all stay in the system of record. On the operations side the agent is genuinely useful for document intake and classification, condition clearing checklists, servicing correspondence drafts, complaint triage, and quality assurance sampling of call transcripts. GLBA safeguards apply to the whole path, including the FTC Safeguards Rule breach notification amendment that took effect May 13 2024, so incident detection and reporting hooks are part of the build, not a follow on project.
